Sarkis and chair David Bedford both left the Christian youth work charity last month.

The board has appointed existing board member Tim Waldron as chair and created an additional vice chair role for another board member, Juno Hollyhock.

It will now conduct a review of the role of YMCA England and its national secretary. An interim national secretary will be recruited in the meantime.

Waldron said: "The board is working well together and has a strong commitment to strengthening its governance and building on the support and engagement of the movement."
