What is ChildLine? ChildLine is a free 24-hour helpline for children in distress or danger. It was established in 1986 and is staffed by trained volunteers who comfort and advise children, referring them to relevant services if necessary. The service deals with a range of calls about a variety of subjects, including bullying, family issues, physical abuse and sexual abuse. Last year, it dealt with 140,000 calls.
