Bookstart, the national book scheme for babies, has launched an online and radio advertising campaign to raise awareness of the benefits of reading to young children and encourage take-up of the free book programme. Under the Bookstart scheme every child receives three packs of free books at key stages of their development. Packs are distributed to parents of children aged seven months, 18 months and three years through health visitors, libraries and nurseries.
