The Adult Learning Inspectorate has praised the quality of training provided by Netherley Valley Childcare Initiatives, a Liverpool-based company with charitable status. The company, which is currently providing work-based training for 29 learners, was praised for its leadership, management and off-the-job training. It began providing training as part of a local, community-based project to reach groups facing exclusion, such as the unemployed and lone parents, and became independent in August 2001. Examples of good practice cited include an annual ceremony held to present learners with their certificates as a celebration of achievement. The report is on the website www.ali.gov.uk.
