Education secretary Charles Clarke announced his ministerial team's revised responsibilities last week following the Cabinet reshuffle which put Margaret Hodge in the new role of children's minister. Catherine Ashton retains specific responsibility for Sure Start, early years and childcare and will work with Mrs Hodge. Minister for school standards David Miliband takes responsibility for reshaping the school workforce, including support staff, and will also deal with school organisation, funding, curriculum testing and assessment and teachers' pay and performance. Stephen Twigg will oversee the literacy and numeracy strategies, class sizes and the primary school curriculum. Alan Johnson will handle further education...
