Help from: Association of London Government
Children Now
7 December 2005
Formed in 2000 at the same time as the Greater London Assembly, the Association of London Government acts as an umbrella body for the capital's various local authorities. It is a membership organisation, comprising all 32 London boroughs, the Metropolitan Police Authority, the Corporation of London and the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority.
The association helps develop policy and campaigns on behalf of local
government. Each year it distributes £27m to voluntary groups
including numerous children's charities. It also helps its members
access European Union funding. And the organisation consults on policy
proposals and conducts research.
